Faculty Workshop: Industrial Electrification

June 3 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
LCI Industrial Electrification Workshop ()

Calling all University of Toronto Faculty Researchers: Many of you have expressed interest in learning more about the Lawson Climate Institute, and perhaps getting involved in its activities. Now is your chance! We are excited to invite you to an informal workshop on Industrial Electrification.

The aim of our short workshop is for faculty to get to know others working in this area, with an eye toward developing collaborative projects. Industrial Electrification is one of the funding priorities for LCI in AY2026-27, and will be the theme for the next round of grants this summer. Ideally, the workshop catalyzes new projects funded by the LCI’s Industrial Electrification stream. We are casting our net widely – welcoming anyone who works on issues related to Industrial Electrification. Faculty researching other climate topics are welcome to come and learn, but will not be eligible for these grants.

RSVP Required

NOTE: Please complete the RSVP even if you are NOT able to attend, but would like to learn more.

About the Session

Since this is meant to be a “getting to know you” session, we would like to start by gathering information from interested faculty (whether or not you can attend the event). The RSVP form will ask you to answer short questions questions, and your answers will be shared with attendees after the event. At the event, attendees will introduce themselves, after which we will ask 6-8 faculty (in advance) to talk for no more than 10 minutes about 1) their research agenda, 2) potential collaborations, and 3) what they see as the grand challenges related to industrial electrification. This is meant to be an informal community-building event and so formal presentations and powerpoints are not necessary,

If you are considering applying, or exploring whether your work may align, we encourage you to register here by Friday, May 15.

We are aiming for broad and thoughtful representation across relevant areas of expertise. If there are colleagues you believe should be included in this conversation, please forward this event directly.
