International Women’s Day Event: “Your Career in Climate” with Catherine McKenna and Katharine Hayhoe

To mark International Women’s Day 2026, the Lawson Climate Institute at University of Toronto, together with the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and the School of the Environment, will host a special fireside chat and networking reception featuring Catherine McKenna, lawyer, climate leader, and former Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Canada, and Katharine Hayhoe, Global Chief Scientist of Nature United and Distinguished Professor at Texas Tech University.
Held in-person at U of T, this session will draw on McKenna’s memoir Run Like A Girl and Hayhoe’s lived experience as a renowned Canadian atmospheric scientist and climate communicator. The discussion will celebrate climate leadership, resilience, and the power of storytelling to drive change, and in that context highlight rewarding career paths that can bring about practical climate solutions.
An inspiring conversation and Q&A will give students and alumni a chance to think about their own paths, meet like-minded peers, and gain inspiration from two of Canada’s leading voices in climate and politics.
